If you upgraded to TNGv12+, and did not update your cust_text.php files as instructed in the upgrade readme script, then you must use the TNG Mod Manager to update them. To do so:

  1. Go to Mod Manager, and select its "Recommended Updates" tab.
    (If the "Recommended Updates" tab is not visible, then go to the Mod Manager Options tab, select "Display Settings", and turn on the "Recommended Updates" tab.)
  2. Click the "Update" button in the "Recommended Updates" tab.
    Installed mods do not interfere with the update, and if you already have (or think you may have) run this update, it will not hurt for you to run it again.

Purpose of the Mod

This Mod allows encoding, formatting, validation and display of french republican dates

Input Formats:
Prefix: r or R or nothing depending on option.
Day: at least one digit > 0
Month: in 3 letters minimum (4 for Ventose and Vendémiaire), lower or upper case.
Year: at least one digit > 0 or the Roman characters from I to XIV inclusive, in upper or lower case, preceeded by "An" or not. < br> Separators: space, slash(/) or dash (-).
After inputting the date, press [Tab] to validate and format the date.
Inputting "5 bru AN iv" [Tab ] will change your input in "05 BRUM An IX", meaning that the date is valid and formatted.
Date Modifiers: the date can be preceded by "bef", "aft", "<", ">", "ca", "near".

The mod does not takes in charge the double dates (like: "Between 05 Brum 09 and 15 brum 10".
They remain in their input format (ex: BET 5 BRUM 9 AND 15 BRUM IX).

Output Formats :
On the screen, the date is represented by :
Day: in two digits
Month: in 4 capital letters (BRUM) or in whole (Brumaire) according to option.
Year: in two digits or in upper case roman numerals according to option.
Prefix: to choose and to define (ex: [R]) or nothing according to option.
As an option, the Gregorian date (TNG format) is followed by the Republican date between parentheses. Ex ==> 07 May 1804 (18 PRAI XII)
or the Republican date is followed by the Gregorian date between parentheses. Ex ==> [R] 18 PRAI 12 (Mey 7 1804)

GEDCOM Import :
A secondary maintenance tool is provided in the Administration/Import-Export/Secondary Maintenance Tools section, button "Republican dates".
This tool provides Gregorian encoding and standard formatting of imported valid republican dates.
A date imported as "@DFRENCH R@ 5 brumaire An IX" will be re-stored as "05 BRUM 09".
This has no influence on the screen display. The gedcom import formats are taken into account (Ex: @#DFRENCH R@ for Hérédis)

Validity checks. Several validity checks are carried out:
The number of extra days in leap years
the maximum republican date (10 NIV 14)
the number of days per month.

Preservation in the tables: The Republican dates will be kept in the tables with their Gregorian equivalent in order to
enable it to be classified among the other dates and taken into account in the statistics.

Installation

  1. Uninstall and delete previous version of this mod (if installed)
  2. Download the appropriate zip file as shown in the mod summary in the upper right corner of the page.
  3. Extract the file from the downloaded zip file into the mods folder or FTP the extracted file to your mods folder.
  4. Follow the normal automated installation for Mod Manager, as shown in the example Mod Manager - Installing Config Files to install the mod.

In the event of a problem

Uninstalling the mod

If you want to completely Remove (uninstall) this mod and any tables if created, you should

  1. click the Uninstall button to uninstall the mod
  2. click the Delete button to delete the config file from the mods folder.

Upgrade

  • Uninstall and eventually Delete the current Mod.
  • Proceed as for an installation with the new Mod.]
