Purpose of the mod

In Sweden it's quite common (in genealogy) to mark the "called by" first name with an * (astersik) when a person has more than one first name.
For example a person may be baptized to John Adam and is called John. His name is registered as John* Adam
Another person is also baptized to John Adam but is called Adam. His name is registered as John Adam*
When you search for John Adam, you will only find John Adam* because there is no asterisk after John in the search string.

My users frequently send me Gedcom files with asterisks in the names and I remove them.
Now I don't have to any more.

Requirements

TNG version:

≥ 11.0.0

• A working TNG installation.
• A backup of all affected files (see the list below)
• An installed current version of the Mod Manager (is already included in TNG v10)

Installation

1. Click on the download link, shown in the summary in the upper right corner of the page.
2. Un-zip the file and move/copy/FTP the .cfg file to the mods folder of your TNG system.
3. Follow the normal automated installation for Mod Manager, as shown in the example Mod Manager - Installing Config Files to install the mod.

In the event of a problem

• Try using the Mod Manager Remove capability
• Replace all affected files with the copies you made before the installation.

Uninstalling the mod

If you want to completely Remove (uninstall) this mod and any tables if created, you should

1. click the Uninstall button to uninstall the mod and then
2. click the Delete button to delete the config file from the mods folder.
