wiki - move your backup files

Ken your useful page on this subject may be a little out of date. I posted a request for help re ransom ware on tng forum re installation. If you have any current thoughts mabe you could find time to update this page Rick39 (talk) 02:26, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

Sorry, but I have no clue as to what you consider being out of date in this article. It provides information on how you can specify your backup folder to be outside of the web server addressability. I saw your post on the forum, where you indicate that you are doing your own hosting on a NAS device, which means that you need provide all the required security mechanisms to secure your network, which is not the same as moving your backups. --KenRoy (talk) 11:50, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

Generic Shared Hosting

I have just successfully moved my backup, config and log files as per this page. I have some feedback.

The wiki at point 2 currently says ...

In the Admin >> Setup >> General Settings >> Path and Folders sections, set the relative path from your document root to the new folder. If your TNG site is the document root, use ../backup. If you are one or two levels below the document root, you will need to use ../../backup or ../../../backup respectively. Click on Make folder and it will tell you the directory already exists (TNG found it!)

TNG v 14.0.5 patched give contradictory advice ...

Use an absolute path name, like what you see in the Root Path.

From my experience, I followed an absolute path recommended by Darrin and this worked. Should this wiki be updated to also advise absolute path use?
