Using the Census Plus Mod
The Census Plus International mod allows you to manage census transcripts on your TNG web site. Both manual add and automated import from the Ancestry Interactive Viewer DOM Source file capture are supported.
The Standard or Basic Viewer is deprecated and problems with its import will not be fixed.
There are different considerations in using the Census Plus International mod depending on whether you:
- Import a GEDCOM from a desktop genealogy program
- Use TNG as your master database
See Census Plus considerations when importing GEDCOM for additional details
Using TNG only
See Census Plus considerations when using TNG only for additional details
Import from Ancestry
If you have a paid subscription to Ancestry.com, the easiest way to obtain a census transcript is to import it. See the Census Plus International - Import article for a detailed approach.
Update Census Plus
After importing the census transcript from Ancestry.com, the Census Plus International mod will take you through the necessary steps to update the information.
If you later want to come pack and update the imported transcript, you can do so using the Census Plus International Update Census Plus tab. See Census Plus International - Update for details.
You should link personIDs to everyone in the household. If you discovered new members of the household and you use a GEDCOM import to maintain your database, then you might not have linked everyone.
To link additional members of the household after a GEDCOM data import, use the Census Plus International Link IDs tab. See Census Plus International - Link IDs for details.
Another approach is to link only the Head of Household using the Family ID. In which case, the Census Plus transcript will be displayed in the Family section rather than in the Individual data section of the getperson.php page.
